International Society for Technology in Education
The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) is a membership association available to educators and education leaders. Their purpose is to improve teacher education, as well as learning and teaching in PK - 12 grades by advancing the effective use of technology.
The ISTE also employs National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for teachers, students, and administrators. NETS is a set of standards that guides educational leaders to use of technology in instruction to enable learners to learn and live successfully in a digital society. This instructional program will take a look at the five standards for National Education Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T), as well as the six standards for National Education Technology Standards for Students (NETS-S). |

- As the Subject Matter Expert, teachers use their knowledge, teaching and learning, as well as technology to facilitate experiences. These are designed to advance the learner's creativity, learning, and innovation through virtual and face-to-face environments.
2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
- Educators design, develop, and evaluate genuine learning experiences, as well as assessments by incorporating present-day tools and resources. These tools and resources are utilized to maximize learning of content in context.
3. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
- Knowledge, skills, and work processes are displayed through educators to represent an innovation and professionalism in a globally digital society.
4. Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
- Educators display legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices regarding global and local societal issues that arise in an evolving digital culture.
5. Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership
- Educators are constantly improving their professional practice. They do this by displaying leadership and model lifelong learning. In addition, they promote and demonstrate the effectiveness of digital tools and resources by using them in their school and professional communities.
