Module 2: Incorporating Standards into Your Website(s) and Podcast(s)
Overview
Standards are always being discussed in education and different states employ different standards. Regardless of what state you live in, you should research your state's standards, if applicable, and incorporate them into your instruction if you do not do so already.
For purposes of this instruction program, we will focus on Virginia's Standards of Learning (SOL), specifically portions of the Computer Technology SOLs. The Virginia SOLs are the expectations for student learning and achievement regarding the different subject areas in the state of VIrginia.
In addition, there are standards for technology in education sponsored by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). Their purpose is to improve learning and teaching in PK - 12 grades by advancing the effective use of technology. They are also focused on teacher education. This instructional program will take a look at the National Education Technology Standards (NETS) for teachers (NETS-T) and students (NETS-S).
