Module 4: Implementing Your Website(s) and Podcast(s)
Overview:
Once you create your website(s) and podcast(s) and publish them, you are ready to implement them into your instruction. Incorporating technologies, such as websites and podcasts, have proven to be effective technologies in instruction.
Although you are ready to implement one or both into your instruction does not mean you are done. Implementing these technologies into your instruction requires continuous monitoring. Please see below for guidelines to consider when implementing technologies into your instruction. Keep in mind, these guidelines should also be considered after implementation has begun.

Guidelines to Consider When Implementing Technologies
Continuous maintenance
Leaders must provide support
Recognize that technology changes rapidly
Leaders must endure continuous training
Use it or lose it
The evolutionary process must include parents and learners
Technology is a lifelong learning process and is for everyone
- Websites and podcasts need continuous maintenance with regular updates and functionality checks. It is important to regularly maintain each to keep items up to date and current, as well as functional and meaningful.
Leaders must provide support
- It is the responsibility of leadership to provide support, as well as be active and committed to using technologies and incorporating them in instruction. They must support their learners and other instructors throughout the entire process.
Recognize that technology changes rapidly
- Instructors and learners must realize that technology is rapidly changing every day. It is important to stay current in technologies despite the challenges because it is essential for digital world learning.
Leaders must endure continuous training
- To stay up to date with technologies, it is imperative that leaders participate in continuous training. Training should not only occur with using the technologies, but it should also occur regarding technical support. Leaders must be knowledgeable in the subject matter, but do not have to be experts to begin incorporating technologies into their instruction.
Use it or lose it
- Just as with everything, if you do not use something often, you will rarely use it at all. It is important to use the technologies often so instructors and learners feel comfortable utilizing them. If not, instructors and learners may be hesitant to use them or discouraged and not use them.
The evolutionary process must include parents and learners
- There must be continuity between the learners home and their formal education setting. Parents must be included in the process so they know what their child(ren) is expected to do. While not all learners will have such easy access, there are free resources, such as libraries that allow learners to access this information. Regardless, parents and learners and instructors must be in constant communication throughout this process.
Technology is a lifelong learning process and is for everyone
- Learners of all ages are incorporating technologies into their education. Young learners are growing up using technologies, and cannot imagine their lives without it. Older learners are learning to use them, and are slowly integrating them into their daily lives. It is important to realize that all learners are capable of utilizing technology, and that it is a lifelong learning process regardless of the age.
Congratulations on implementing your website(s) and/or podcast(s) with the help of this instructional program. Hopefully this program was able to help you get started in implementing each into your instruction that is beneficial to you and your learners. Get creative and have fun using these technologies in your instruction! |
