Should you need additional assistance, you can visit Wikispaces' FAQ page or contact the author/instructor of this instructional program.
You are able to click on each of the images below. There are some images that will expand in size to give you a better view at what is being discussed, or you will be brought to the respective page with a designated URL link.
Step One:
|
Wikispaces can be used by individuals and groups for free. In order to join Wikispaces, you must register. Once you sign up, you will be able to begin creating your wiki. First, you must go to the wiki homepage, Wikispaces. Click the green button "Wikis for Individuals and Groups." |
Step Two & Three:
Step Two: You are then brought to this Wikispaces Join page. This page not only allows you to join Wikispaces, but it gives you an overview of what all of the wikis include. If you scroll down on the webpage, you will see additional information including, but not limited to free wikis for educators, wiki features, pricing, and other wiki news. This is a great overall summary of what Wikispaces has to offer you when it comes to creating a wiki! Step Three: You will then be prompted to check your email to confirm your email account. Please note that you may need to check your spam folder. After confirming your account, you can begin creating a new wiki. Click the URL under "Confirm Your Email." Once you click on the link, you will automatically be taken to your Wikispaces wiki. |
As mentioned before, you can create as many pages as you would like. Each time you click "Create a new wiki" you will be brought to this page. Just enter in a wiki page name using letters, numbers, and hyphens only to create a title. Each page allows you to set its own permission. Some pages you may want more restriction, and others you may not not care who sees it. There are three options, two of which are free. The third is private, and you can try it for the first 30 days free. Finally, for each page, you will select the wiki type. Some individuals create wiki pages for school, personal use, etc. Select the most appropriate type for each of your wiki pages. Hit "Create" to create your new wiki page! |
Step Six:
|
After you hit "Create," you will be brought to the main screen of your wiki page. Before you begin, you see the message about "Getting Started" and "Need Help?" If at any time you need help, you can go to the top, right corner and click the "Help" button. The two most important buttons to remember are "Edit" and Save." A wiki is an editable document, so in order to add/edit information, you will need to click the edit button. Please see the purple arrow for the location of the "Edit" button. |
Step Seven:
The first page of your wiki is your homepage.
You can easily change your font style, the color of your font, and make it bold, italicized, underlined, and/or strike through. You can even change the font size per word if you would like! Text can be kept to the left, centered, or to the right. Bulleted lists using bullets or numbers can be added also. The possibilities are endless! Use the tools on the toolbar to the left of the link button to change the font, color, size, alignment, and bullets. Remember: Click "Save" to save the content of your wiki page! |
Step Ten:
In order to add content, you must hit the "Edit" button in the right corner of your page as demonstrated in step six.
